The Roast of the Almost-Century

Last Wednesday, FBM had the pleasure of witnessing 90-year-old Betty White get roasted by the Friar's Club at the Sheraton Hotel in NYC.  The beloved actress was a trooper as she took jabs from some of Hollywood's heaviest hitters.  Betty made her grand entrance as "Lady Godiva" on a white pony, ushered by two tan and shirtless men.  Matt Lauer introduced the gigantic dais of celebrities, along with the "roast of honor" and asked her if "she had her catheter in because this thing goes on forever."  Barbara Walters was a natural as the roast master, who poked fun at Betty's age by saying she was "the first woman to do Shakespeare at the Globe Theater."  Of course the "old jokes" didn't stop there as Jeffrey Ross commented that "more men have died on top of Betty than Mount Everest."  Pro-roaster Lisa Lampanelli even dug into Betty by saying she used to babysit Larry King.  Other roasters included: Bethenny Frankel, Larry King, Regis Philbin, Joy Behar, Oscar Nunez, David Letterman, Jane Leeves, Valerie Bertinelli, Liza Minnelli, and our favorite - Uggie the dog from "The Artist."

Betty said a few words at the end of her roast, telling the audience she had such a wonderful time and didn't expect to!  Later that night, she made an appearance on Letterman and admitted that Uggie was her favorite roaster!

                                                        Lady Godiva makes her entrance!

FAO Schwartz provided us with "Patrick the dog" centerpieces and the crowd went wild!

Motivators provided us with the "Betty White Roast Survival Bags," which enabled every one to walk out in style!

Motivators also sent us these awesome water bottles with an attachable keychain! How perfect are those for the gym?

Betty White with Uggie against the backdrop of the Nature's Variety Instinct Raw logo.

Uggie had his own space in the Green Room, surrounded by his favorite brand of dog food!  Nature's Variety provided Uggie with food for his stay in NYC!

Besides Regis, Uggie was the only other celebrity who got a kiss from Betty!

BEAT Cookies

SallyTracyCake baked these homemade treats for our cast while filming "Kill Your Darlings."  These cookies featured Allen Ginsberg's face, the Columbia University logo, quotes from our script, and Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg's books!  Thank you to Sally Tracy and Kerianne Tracy for the soft and delicious cookies that made filming 10x better that day!

If you want your own "Kill Your Darlings" cookies, please call Sally or Kerianne at 973-635-1710!

Our favorite is of course the one featuring the "Kill Your Darling's" takes.

Louis Licari

A special thank you goes out to Louis Licari and his team, who colored and cut the Kill Your Darling cast's hair throughout the film!  Daniel Radcliffe looked great with his perm, while Michael C. Hall dyed his hair red.  Louis also colored Dane DeHaan's, Erin Drake's, and Ben Foster's hair too!

Dane DeHaan and his fiance Anna Wood at the Louis Licari salon! Congrats you two!

Michael C. Hall and his VERY red hair!

Daniel Radcliffe and his curls!

Dane DeHaan went a few shades blonder, while Ben dyed his hair darker!

As FBM is located in New York, we LOVE anything related to our city.  When a friend told us about Randeep Katari's blog draw NYC, we knew his quirky cartoon characters placed in the middle of recognizable city locations would be a perfect fit for "Kill Your Darlings."  When we contacted Randeep, he was more than happy to create specialized drawings of the cast for us, and the below is what he came up with!  We're so grateful to have Randeep as part of the FBM family and ESPECIALLY for our own drawing, which is currently framed in our office.

Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg in the Strand!

Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr in Greenwich Village.

Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac and Ben Foster as William Burroughs in the West Village.

Lizzie Olsen as Edie Parker at "The Smile."

Michael C. Hall as David Kammerer in Union Square Park.

Our director John Krokidas at La Colombe coffee bar.

Dane DeHaan loving his Blue 1 clothing!

It’s a Wrap!

Last night we celebrated the end of a very successful shoot for “Kill Your Darlings” at Slate NYC.  Our cast and crew came trekking in the torrential downpour to play Ping-Pong, drink Svedka and Atlantico Rum, and reminisce about the past five weeks.  It was nice to see everyone without headsets on or scripts in their hands, and just simply enjoying all the hard work they put into KYD.  Slate outdid themselves by setting up numerous Ping-Pong tables, so that Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan could enjoy a few rounds of their favorite game! Michael C. Hall was sporting his Donni Charm scarf, while Ben Foster enjoyed all the wonderful hors d’oeuvres Slate served.  Svedka even created specialized drinks called “The Kill Your Darlings Martini” and “The Kerouac,” which Sarah Hollis particularly enjoyed!  We can’t wait until “Kill Your Darlings” comes out in theaters next year, so you can enjoy what we created!
